A Feast Your Children Can Live In
Sukkot (the Feast of Tabernacles) is a seven-day holiday filled with joy and celebration. It is a reminder of God’s faithfulness to the Jewish people after He rescued them from slavery in Egypt. He cared for them in the wilderness, gave the Torah on Mount Sinai, provided daily bread to sustain them (plus extra on Shabbat!), and kept their clothes from wearing out. For seven days God’s people live in little temporary shelters called sukkahs so that every generation remembers: the same God who took care of His people in the desert still takes care of us today.
Our Sukkot activity book invites your family to step into that story with your hands. Build and decorate a paper sukkah. Color the wilderness camp and the lulav and etrog. Match Hebrew words to pictures, hunt for treasures in nature, and put a miniature sukkah through a wind test to see if it stands. Sukkot is commanded in Leviticus 23, the last of God’s seven appointed times and the only one He told His people to keep with joy. Every other feast has a food or a sound. Sukkot has a place. These pages give children something to build, hold, and remember.
A Booth Built to Remember
God gave the reason for the sukkah Himself: “so that your generations may know that I had Bnei-Yisrael to dwell in sukkot when I brought them out of the land of Egypt” (Leviticus 23:43, TLV). For families who follow Yeshua, the feast points forward too. On the last and greatest day of Sukkot He stood up in the Temple and cried out, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink” (John 7:37). He is the living water the rock in the desert was pointing to, and the King every nation will one day come to Jerusalem to celebrate Sukkot with (Zechariah 14:16).
